AMBASSADORS
These days, children are very much interested in the social state of different cultures, they feel very involved and therefore the initiative in taking action and giving a helping hand is increasing as well. This is a wonderful development which we, as the SCDF, are very happy with! That is the reason why the SCDF has ambassadors. They feel involved with the social circumstances of the people that are living in the communities around Phalaborwa and they dedicate themselves to give a helping hand. And obviously we are very happy with their help!
As you know, the SCDF is mainly focusing on children who are facing certain difficulties in life in their primary needs like food and water supply, health and education. By involving the children who are living a good life, for example children from the Netherlands but also from the rest of Europe and other parts of the world, awareness is created about the world around them and about what is going on in that world. Isn’t it wonderful that children from all over the world give each other a helping hand?!
What is an ambassador exactly doing?
A SCDF-ambassador is dedicated to the task to help the vulnerable children from the communities around Phalaborwa. This can be done in many different ways like for example doing a presentation at school, collecting money by selling old toys and clothing or doing some other action and anything else you can think of! Use your fantasy and creative mind and we will be more than willing to help you with your ideas.
We would like to introduce our ambassadors…

Hi, I am Emmelie Herwegh.
I am 12 years old and I am in grade 7.
My hobbies are scuba diving, playing the guitar and going on Holidays.
I have been in South Africa and I have seen a lot. Beautiful nature, wonderful animals and very kind and hospitable people. But I have also seen different townships and I was very impressed by it. The people that are living there have so little. The difference regarding my way of living is big and I would really like to do something for them so I can help them making a better living. There are a lot of children who don’t have a fair chance of a good future just because they are born in a different country than the Netherlands. That’s why I want to be a SCDF ambassador. If you have any questions, if you would like to have some information or maybe you also want to help some of the children… just send me an email. I would love to tell you more about the Fund.
Baaie Dankie!

Nice meeting you!
Great that you are having a look at this website. Let me introduce myself. My name is Maartje Herwegh. I am 9 years old and I am in grade 4. I am playing the drums and I love music.
I also like to play with other children and luckily I have a lot of friends to play with. When I was in South-Africa I saw a lot of children. Children who were very poor and who didn’t have much to live from. I feel very sorry for them. I wanted to do something so I bought some pens, pencils and note books for their school. I saved up my own money to buy this for them. They were very happy with it. Now I have got a money-box where I am saving some money for them.
But there are also other ways to help these children, for example by telling other people about the circumstances in a township. My biggest wish is that there are no more poor people in the world… I want to give my support for it. For a better future for everyone. That is why I am an ambassador of the Sefapane Fund.
